Happy Earth Day! For nearly 50 years, people around the world have celebrated Earth Day to support environmental movements and build awareness. Now, it is more important than ever to acknowledge this day and do our part to protect the earth.
At iProspect, we are dedicated to creating a culture of community, engagement, diversity and inclusion, which is why we have created a new program called iUnite. Within iUnite, there are three main pillars that we will be rolling out over the next several weeks. The first pillar, titled ‘iCare,’ is iProspect's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Our mission is to demonstrate our commitment to being socially responsible by providing employees with opportunities to give back. Giving back and taking part in philanthropy isn’t new for iProspect. Over the years, our employees have donated food to local food banks, volunteered at animal shelters and participated in annual toy drives, among other volunteer and philanthropy events. Now, with iCare, it will be much easier to get involved and give back to the communities that we call home, regardless of where they may be.
In 2017, we launched our VTO (Volunteer Time Off) Policy, a concept that helps encourage and support all employees to get involved in volunteer efforts, no matter what cause is most important to them. As part of this program, each employee is eligible, regardless of tenure, to utilize ONE VTO day each calendar year. As an organization, we find great value and reward in giving back to the community and want to ensure our employees feel just as committed to philanthropy.
This year, in honor of Earth Day, we are focusing our efforts on the #EndPlasticPollution movement, with opportunities for involvement ranging from elimination of single-use plastics, to the global regulation for the disposal of plastics. There is growing evidence that decomposing plastics, such as plastic straws and water bottles, are creating serious global problems – ones that will impact not only us, but the wildlife community and future generations to come. With that in mind, we wanted to share some simple ideas for going plastic-free. Remember that a little goes a long way, so the more you can reduce, the better it will be for our planet!
In order to change the way we treat our planet, we need to be knowledgeable about the environmental issues we face today and the actions we can take to solve them.
This Earth Day, we encourage you to do your part for the planet by learning something new about the environment and how we can work to protect it and make sure it is clean and safe for all that inhabit it.
