THE CHALLENGE

Two weeks before the Greek Elections 2015, the news site "Newsbomb" saw the value of the increased Greek elections’ organic searches & the importance of high rankings for its related website sections. Our experience in On-Page Optimization techniques was the key to success.

THE RESULTS

  • 350k

website organic sessions on elections day

  • 246k

organic users visited the website on election’s day

  • 380k

website organic sessions the day after the elections

  • 275k

organic users visited the website the day after the elections

THE STRATEGY

Being just two weeks away from the elections day, the competition constantly increased. So we focused on the only technique that could offer the appropriate boost in search rankings and at the same time on optimizing user experience and trust, in order to avoid increased bounce rate.

An extended keyword research allowed us to identify keywords with augmenting search volume and identify the competition. Through this research, we also gained insights for keywords with low competition but with many monthly searches.

Not being able to rely on link building because of the limited time, the only method we could depend on was the On-Page Optimization:

  • Extended Internal Linking
  • Optimization of on-page elements, such as Title Tag, Metas, Headings, URI
  • Optimization of existing content according to onsite optimization guidelines and in terms of user experience
  • Creation & optimization of new sections and articles according to onsite optimization guidelines and in terms of user experience
  • Identification of duplicate pages and 301 redirects
