7 Podcasts To Drive Your Digital Marketing Performance

Podcasts have gained a significant increase in popularity over the last couple of years. In fact, we can see a growing search trend for podcasts starting in September 2011 and continuing up to this day. It is quite clear that podcasts are still a trending topic and that they are even more popular than ever! Whether you listen to them during your morning commute, at work, or on your free time, podcasts have gradually become a part of many people’s daily routines.

There are a plethora of different podcasts. From fictional crime-solving dramas to gripping historical podcasts, you can find pretty much anything you want in a podcast format. With that said it should come as no surprise that there are podcasts out there devoted to the broad subject of digital marketing. So, what podcasts do iProspectors listen to for the latest on digital trends, PPC news, and SEO insights? We have handpicked seven podcasts that inform, entertain, and enlighten us as we enter the age of podcasts.

Digiday Podcast

Easily a favourite at iProspect, the Digiday Podcast highlights important concerns in the digital marketing industry and they often invite very prominent people to talk about these specific concerns. From social media to content, this podcast is perfect for anyone that wants to get rid of the traditional one hour read per day needed to stay on top of upcoming trends. Josh Topolsky’s episode about “Sameness in digital media” is a great example of the essence of this podcast.

The Fizzle Show

Having people with a business-oriented mindset is a must in order to thrive as an agency.  We call these people “intrapreneurs”, people who have a will to develop products and literally “think outside the box”. The key here is to use the inspirational knowledge taught by podcasts like the Fizzle Show and then apply it to clients. Episode 79, “How Much Should You Promote Your Own Content?”, is the featured episode for a good reason: it’s fantastic.

Social Media Pubcast

If browsing endless Facebook and Twitter feeds is your thing, the Social Media Pubcast is your best bet. Jon Loomer has great guest speakers as well as very interesting and thought provoking topics strictly related to social media marketing and trends. If you are looking for some new tricks in order to improve your Facebook Ads ROI, episode 97 on Dynamic Ads is a great start! Other than that, Jon recently started to stream his podcast on Facebook Live. Go take a listen!

Perpetual Traffic

If you like the Digiday Podcast (see above) but you thought they were doing too much of an overview without delving deeper in the details, Perpetual Traffic by DigitalMarketer.com is definitely for you. Each podcast has a clear goal in its title and the guests embrace the level of detail they can go into in order to get to that specific goal. The team behind each podcast offers a transcript of every episode as well as the list of the different sources they used during the show. This is a gold mine of information and takes this podcast beyond the spoken word. Do you have any question about your ad copy? Go listen to episode 84 where Digital Marketer’s founder Ryan Deiss share his questions about ad copy.

HBR IdeaCast

Harvard Business Review is most known for its excellent management magazine as well as its HBR.org online content platform. But did you know that they have their very own podcast? HBR IdeaCast features 20 to 30 minutes long shows that talk about a wide array of management topics. Whether it is about getting out of your comfort zone or learning how to better collaborate across silos, this podcast is a great resource for all aspiring managers and an excellent refresher for current executives.

Google Partners Podcast

If you are as passionate about digital marketing as we are, this Google Partners podcast is a must! Host Alex Langshur talks digital marketing with many of the industry’s top experts as well as national and global agencies in order to gather relevant insights on digital marketing trends. Ice Cream for Everyone

Don’t be fooled by the name of the last podcast on the list because it is a great one! Ice Cream for Everyone features Willem van der Horst, a strategy and marketing expert based in London, UK. He interviews many different people about a variety of topics but his stories tend to revolve around marketing, tabletop gaming, and media in general. Each episode has its own reference list for you to browse in case you found an interesting topic you would like to learn more about. Oh, and Willem makes some pretty interesting connections between brand strategies and game strategies, go take a listen!
