Frames are multiple, independently “scrollable” sections on a website that aim to make navigation easier or more attractive by keeping one part of a site constant (usually the left or top navigation) while opening new pages and content within another part (usually the center and right sides of the page). However, frames create problems that Web developers and marketers need to be aware of — they may prevent engines from finding internal pages on a website or they may cause engines to send visitors into a site without the proper frame "context" established. They cause further problems unrelated to search engines as well — printing and bookmarking pages can be problematic. If you must use frames, there are workarounds that your search engine marketing vendor will be able to implement. But the best decision is to avoid them.
