iPROSPECT PLANS SUIT AGAINST 37 COMPANIES FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
ARLINGTON, Mass., April 19, 2002 - iProspect®, a
world-leading search engine positioning services firm, today announced it plans to file suit against 37 search engine positioning companies whose
Web sites contain text illegally copied from iProspect's Web site.
iProspect notified the infringing companies of its plans today, and, in conformity with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, also has alerted
all major search engines and directories of the illegal activity. In contacting the search engines and directories, iProspect has provided the
URL and a printout of each Web site that contains the copied material. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, each search engine is required
to remove the infringing Web sites from its index.
iProspect president Robert J. Murray said, "We're in the business of creating search engine visibility for clients, not filing lawsuits. But
we simply can't let this kind of violation stand. By using iProspect's copyrighted material as their own, these 37 companies have detracted from
the integrity of our industry, and have made it more difficult for potential clients to make informed choices. We're probably the most imitated
company in the field of search engine positioning - an undesirable side-effect of being its pioneer and leader."
iProspect appreciates the cooperation of others in ensuring that its copyright is respected. To report illegal copying of iProspect's
material, the public is asked to notify iProspect at the following e-mail address: copycat@iprospect.com.
