More Than Your Average Internship
By Rai Avila | Search Marketing Trainee
We’ve all heard the typical intern horror stories— Starbucks runs, anyone? As a recent college graduate, I’ve endured my fair share of internships woes. During an internship, one hopes to gain professional skills, though the experience may fall short. Personally, all of that changed when I accepted an internship at iProspect.
On my first day, what struck me was the welcoming environment. My initial feelings of first day jitters were immediately subdued. Team members, managers, and the training department supported me through daily interaction and one-on-one meetings. iProspect Knowledge teams exist in all offices for several areas of search marketing. These teams, like the “PPC Powerhouse” or the “SEO Strikeforce”, let others know exactly who to go to
when a specific question arises. iProspect also prides itself with a focus on team building and professional growth for all positions within the office (even interns). The program is built so interns are able to learn the ins and outs of the search industry and later apply best practices to their client accounts. All of this is in preparation for the opportunity of a permanent position. Many of my co-workers were once iProspect interns.
At iProspect, interns are thrown in to the day-to-day routine from the very beginning due to the fast-paced environment. In this ever-evolving digital industry, where change is necessary and we frequently ask ourselves, “What will Google do next?”, there truly is never a dull moment in the office. In order to provide exceptional service for our clients, ad hoc requests are the norm and quick response is our commitment. Chances of interns being bored? Slim to none.
Recently, the intern title has been elevated to “trainee,” this only reinforces a perception I’ve had since my first week at iProspect: this isn’t your average internship. Here, we are trained and set up for success by our managers and peers. Feeling valued and appreciated is essential for our progress. Here, the learning experience goes above and beyond expectation.
